About Us
The Monroe Lending Library was founded in 2005 by a group of concerned citizens who had tried for years to get a public library established in Monroe. With the help of the Monroe Local School District who provided space in unused modules, 400 books donated by a local doctor, and $250 donated by local credit union, the group was on their way to starting up. By start-up in November, the library had accumulated approximately 1,000 book, and opened its door for business. The Monroe Lending Library is 501(c)3 charitable organization and operates strickly on monetary donations, book donations, and fundraisers. No tax dollars are directed to the library. We are also an all-volunteer library. Thanks to a county grant in 2011, the Monroe Lending Library moved to its present location on 6 East Avenue. Our collection of books and DVDs has grown to a collection of over 19,000. There are eight guest computers with printers available for the public, and guests are also welcome to bring their own laptops or tablets, and hook up to the library free Wi-Fi.
